Welcome to my portfolio website. Featured above are magazine covers that I’ve design for California Broker magazine, a trade magazine for the insurance and financial planning industries. Often times the topics featured in this publication tend to not be overtly visual in nature. So, conceptualizing and designing the covers month after month presents challenges that can be both restricting and liberating.

In my early days with California Broker, all of the covers were developed from a series of quick thumbnail sketches which I would develop after meeting with the editor and sales staff. From there I’d set up a photo shoot, build the props and hire a model or two. As times progressed and budgets compressed, it became much more economical to work with smaller props and stock photo libraries as well as using Photoshop and Illustrator to achieve my design goals.
